Gr-Gr-Grandparents
Little verifiable information has been found regarding the parents of Barnett Holloway Allgood.  It is generally believed that Barnett Holloway Allgood's mother was Frances and his father was Ishmeal/Ishmael/Ismel Allgood.
The Allgood Genealogy, p. 149, provides no information on Barnett Holloway Allgood's father.  The only information concerning his mother is found in a single sentence: "She left home drifted across Virginia, found two boys, and came on to Sptg. where they grew and married."
     The Allgood Heritage
provides the following quotation from Martin Hunter's Some Observations on Allgood Origins and Barnett Holloway Allgood (1779-1861) :  "Sometime in August 1778, a 19 year old Irish house servant in southside Virginia committed an indiscretion with one of her employer's family.  Her name was Frances Allgood.  She was born 15 March 1759 in Ireland.  Her employer's surname was Holloway.  Nine months later, on 2 May 1779, Barnett Holloway Allgood was born in Cumberland Co. Va.  Sometime thereafter Frances left Cumberland County."
John Bumum recently called my attention to the Genealogy of the Bynum Family, V.2, printed by the Southern Democrat, Oneonta, Alabama, 1958.  The following quote comes from page 311:

"The Allgood family came from England to America in the early days of this country's history.  The first ones who came were a widow and her son, Ismel Allgood, and his wife, Frances.  Ismel and Frances Allgood settled in Virginia.  They had two sons, Deforrest and Barnett Holloway."
